Pogo

Hopping on the back wheel while standing on the back pegs. See also Nose Pogo.

How-To Pogo

 - Riding at a medium pace, with your feet on the back pegs, grab the front brakes.
 - Shift your weight forward slightly when the back end starts to come up.
 - At the same time, lock up the back brakes.
 - Lean back and pull the front of the bike up, rocking onto the back wheel.
 - Pull up with your arms while hopping slightly to get off the ground.
 - Now you just have to keep jumping, hopping in the direction you are leaning.
 - When you're done, release the brakes step down on whatever pedal is forward. Once you're OK at that, try getting into the hopping position in different ways:
 - Instead of doing an endo just stop, stay stationary for as long as you can, and then rock backwards to get up in position, with practice you can do this fairly slowly, which looks good.
 - Do a slow peg manual into a wall. As you hit the wall grab both brakes and try to stay still with your front wheel on the wall, you can do this indefinetly if you can stick your wheel into a crack or something in the wall. When you can't balance any more hop off backwards. You don't necessarily have to know how to do peg manuals to pull it off as you can lift the wheel just before hitting the wheel.
 - Do a slowish peg manual, but rock backwards to hard, so that you would fall over backwards, but to stop that happening, gently apply the back brake. The idea is to come to a stop with your front wheel still in the air. When you've stopped hop so as not to fall over. You can do the odd trick in this position, I don't think they merit their own section so I'll stick them in here.
 - While hopping, stay still for a moment and turn the handlebar 180 degrees, with your left hand off and your right on the back brake. The bike seems to move a bit to the side as you take one hand off, but with practice you learn to counter that with your wheight.
 - Never actually tried this but an X-up pogo should be possible.
 - While hopping, when the back wheel hits the ground jump off the pegs, keeping the bike off the ground by pressing down with your arms, and just try and get your feet as high and far apart as possible. Land on the back pegs and hop again. You can pogo quite high (I can pogo higher than I can bunnyhop) if you lunge properly. Squat on the pegs and jump up as hard as possible. You can make it on to grind boxes and things. If the obstacle is just a bit to high then you can put your peg on first, making sure your wheight is over the peg on the box and hop the remaining bit up, but bear in mind that its more difficult to hop off the peg than off the tire, and that it slips around on the box. It is considerably more difficult, but you can pogo with you feet on the pedals. To do this you will have to shift your wheight way back over the back wheel to get into position, using any of the previously described techniques. You will also find it more difficult to actually hop, because your legs arent straight. Havnt managed any of the tricks hopping like this. ---- Tricks»»Tricks#Ground Tricks|Ground Tricks»»Tricks#Hopping Tricks|Hopping
