Biography

Born and raised in little-known Hammond, Louisiana, Terry Adams started racing BMX in 1993. After winning the NBL points race in his division, Terry began to look for other challenges on his twenty inch bike. After a series of ramp demos for a local bike shop, Terry still sought a bigger challenge and decided to dedicate all his riding to what became his passion in life – flatland. In 1999, after riding flatland for four years, Terry entered his first pro contest at the age of 16. Severe asthma drove Terry out of the public school system and into a life of home-schooling, which gave the young athlete ample practice time. Through years of dedicated riding, Terry overcame his struggles with asthma and began to rise up as a professional flatland rider. In 2002, Terry’s career and confidence skyrocketed after a big win in Chicago landed him an invitation to his first ESPN X-Games. The same year, Terry won a King of Ground contest in Japan and another competition in New York. Terry went on to another X-Games appearance in the United States and traveled through Europe and Asia doing what he did best – riding and winning flatland contests. His unique style and impossible to duplicate tricks made Terry stand out from other flatlanders around the world and garnered him a signature frame from a renowned flatland company. Today, Terry has graced the pages of nearly every BMX magazine across the globe and continues to push his riding on a daily basis. His experiences and success have given him the confidence he needs to persevere and make a lasting impression on the flatland community for years to come." - Fat Tony
